Literacy:
This week, we will be reading a book called ‘Way Home’. Use the following link to listen to the story being read. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjzP18bsSdQ
This week, you will be writing a poem based on the cat in the window and you will be thinking of an alternate ending, which might be better for the main character, Shane.
Monday:
Listen to the reading of Way Home. Write down what you think about the story.
Answer these questions: (These have been set on Purple Mash)
What do you think about Shane?
How do you think Shane feels throughout the story?
How could you make Shane feel safer?
Tuesday:
Use the five senses (smell, touch, taste, hearing and sight) to describe the image below. Think about what noises the cat can hear, what the cat can see and what the cat thinks of Shane. Write your descriptive vocabulary around the picture. I have given some examples to get you started.

Wednesday:
Read the poem below and then have a go at writing your own (using the vocabulary you wrote yesterday). You can either use the template to help you or write your own.

Thursday:
Listen to the reading of Way Home again. Shane’s dilemma is that he is homeless. What would make this a satisfying ending and solve Shane’s dilemma?

Friday:
Have a go at re-writing the ending to story so that Shane’s problem is solved and the reader feels satisfied.
PSHE:

History:
During History this week, we will be thinking about the changing of the monarchs and in particular King John and Queen Victoria.
Our enquiry question is: What was life in Britain like under King John, compared to Queen Victoria?
Monday:
The Monarchs– We will learn to order the Monarchs in chronological order.
On Purple Mash, we have set a sorting task. Cut out the squares, mixed them all up and order them in chronological order (time order).
Tuesday:
Write a diary entry from the perspective of a Victorian or someone from the Middle Ages. On Purple Mash a diary entry template will be set for you to use.
Two PowerPoints will be set for you to have a look at. These will give you information about the life of different people in the Victorian era and the Middle Ages.
Once you have decided who you are going to be in your diary entry, get started. Make sure you use the checklist to check your writing.
Have you included everything that you need to?
Wednesday:
Conduct research on King John and the Magna Carta and create a fact file on Purple Mash. A PowerPoint has been put on Purple Mash too.
Please write the information in your own words- don’t copy and paste. You can read, think and write. Please don’t copy.
Below you will find some useful links you can use.
