Year 4 Home Learning Week 2

Hello everyone!

We hope you have had a productive week and are motivated for another week of home learning!

There will be weekly blog posts that outline the week ahead. They will be posted on a Monday morning at 8.00am.

Spellings:

Your spellings will be set on Purple Mash. Please practice these throughout the week. You can request to play again and on Friday you can submit your score on Purple Mash for us to see.

Guided Reading:

Daily tasks will be set on Purple Mash.

Maths:

Complete one activity a day on ActiveLearn and continue to use TTRockstars.

Literacy:

This week we will be writing newspaper reports based on The First Man on the Moon.

Monday:
Features of a newspaper report. Identify the features of a newspaper report. There is an example of Purple Mash for you. Can you think of a short, catchy headline?

Tuesday & Wednesday:
Use the planning template to plan your newspaper report.

Remember:

The orientation (opening paragraphs) must include the 5 Ws.
Who? what? where? when? why?
The main body must be in the past tense and written in third person. It must include key events in chronological order (time order).
The reorientation (closing statement) summaries the events and suggests what might happen next.

Thursday:
Write up your report using the template set on Purple Mash. Remember to use the checklist.

Friday:
Edit, improve and draw illustrations using the newspaper checklist.

Everyday try and complete one of these tasks to make sure you keep a healthy mind as well as keeping safe.

Geography:
We will be learning about UK coasts. Everyday we have set you work on Purple Mash to build up to you being able to identify features of coasts and how they have changed over time.

PE:

Everyday we would like you to complete the Meadows Shake up (5 minutes of exercise). This can be any form of exercise you wish such as, dancing, running, walking, jumping jacks, lunges etc.
